The Role

This Senior Solid Waste Management position will lead our Solid Waste Team in developing innovative solid waste service area solutions, including design, project management, and staff growth opportunities. The successful candidate will interface with clients, manage project teams, and provide technical input on proposals, investigations, designs, and deliverables. As a mentor and coach, the Senior Engineer will ensure quality planning, execution, and documentation of all solid waste management projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing complex projects with competing priorities, coordinating and leading site assessments, feasibility studies, landfill gas generation modeling, waste balance modeling, engineering design, financial assurance documents, operational plans, and emergency response plans.
  • Providing technical oversight and mentoring on proposals, field projects, and engineering deliverables.
  • Engaging in business development to identify new opportunities and secure clients and projects for the department.
  • Mentoring and guiding employees in their professional development, ensuring they have access to necessary tools, training, and support.
About You
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in technical, supervisory, project management, and business management roles, preferably in solid waste management.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, with consideration given to Environmental Science or Geoscience backgrounds with relevant experience.
  • Possession of Professional Engineering registration, with eligibility to register in any province or territory of practice.
  • Strong knowledge of solid waste management principles, with demonstrated experience in project management, team leadership, and business development.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, research, and technical writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to travel to sites as needed, possession of a valid driver's license, and willingness to undergo security clearance checks.
