Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at KONE Canada. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for leading and managing the Corporate Accounting Team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Corporate Accounting Team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end period closing, ensuring all reporting is completed on time.
  • Manage and analyze the Balance sheet and General Ledger accounts, conducting balance sheet reconciliations and organizing routine balance sheet reviews with business partners.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial data and oversee the use of accounting practices to align with IFRS and KONE Accounting Standards (KAS).
  • Manage the accounting of payroll transactions, including salaries, deductions, and benefits for unionized and non-unionized employees.
  • Coordinate timely completion of tax filings and government reports, and support payroll in ensuring timely filings of EHT, WSIB, and other payroll remittances.
  • Manage sales tax, income tax, or corporate audits, and provide effective resolution to disputes.
  • Oversee External and Intercompany Accounts Payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments.
  • Be a Finance Business Partner with stakeholders across the company, including Frontline Units, Global Record to Report, Treasury, and Area Leaders.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and approve relevant journal entries, ensuring supporting documentation is provided in accordance with KONE Guidelines.
  • Assess accounting operations continuously, propose improvements, and implement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Responsible for Treasury functions, including cash flow forecast, bank reconciliations, bank relationships, and management of bank accounts.
  • Support the AR Team in cash applications and other bank-related matters, designing and maintaining accounting and internal control systems and procedures.
  • Participate in Budget and Forecasting sessions, reporting variances on key accounts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with the latest position being mid-level management.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team of growing accounting professionals.
  • Experience in cross-functional business partnering.
  • Successful completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance, with a preference for individuals with a CPA designation.
  • Experience with SAP/S4 HANA and Business Planning and Consolidation is considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including Hedge Accounting, Deferred Taxes, and Sales and Use Taxes.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and job costing is considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to analyze large data sets effectively and synthesize meaningful insights and actions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize to meet demanding deadlines.
