Indigenous Storytelling Initiative


The National Arts Centre is seeking an Associate Producer to support the Indigenous Storytelling Initiative, a four-year project that aims to amplify Indigenous voices and stories through digital platforms.


The successful candidate will work closely with the Indigenous Theatre team to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the project, including outreach, artist negotiations, contract management, and budget oversight.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Collaborating with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, and Producer to plan and execute the project
  • Working with Facebook (Meta) to develop artist training programs and coordinate equipment transfers
  • Implementing and promoting company-wide practices to ensure physically, emotionally, and culturally safe spaces for all staff and visiting artists

Skill Requirements


The ideal candidate will possess:



  • Strong administrative and communication skills, with a focus on attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in producing theatre, film, dance, or television
  • Proficiency in budget preparation and management, scheduling, and contracting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital processes and communication
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit storytelling, performance, dance, theatre, music, and other forms of artistic expression
  • Ability and willingness to share Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing with Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and organizations

Language Requirements


Fluency in both official languages is an asset, as is facility in an Indigenous language.
