NAC Indigenous Theatre:
The Indigenous Theatre Department at the NAC is dedicated to nurturing, developing, and showcasing Indigenous narratives across Canada. Our goal is to honor our storytellers, contributing to the retention, resurgence, and resilience of the diverse Indigenous cultures of this land.
#ReconcileThis:
This initiative, in collaboration with Facebook (Meta), aims to empower hundreds of transformative Indigenous Voices through funding, production resources, and training to share their stories and celebrate their culture in the digital realm. The creators' work will encompass artistic performances in various forms, including dance, theatre, and music, as well as content creation for social media, podcasts, and writing.
The program will also establish four Associate Producer roles within the NAC Indigenous Theatre, offering emerging Indigenous leaders the chance to influence the national initiative. A microsite will be developed to showcase selected works from Indigenous creators, who will be encouraged to share their content through preferred online platforms using the hashtag #ReconcileThis.
As a vital member of the Indigenous Theatre team, reporting directly to the Producer, the Associate Producer will play a crucial role in supporting a wide range of programming for the #ReconcileThis project. This includes active participation in internal and external activities, decision-making processes, and financial oversight of the project budget.
Core Duties:
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, Producer, and Production department to plan, schedule, and execute the #ReconcileThis initiative, including outreach, artist negotiations, contract drafting, and budget management.
- Coordinate with Facebook (Meta) on artist training and equipment logistics for the project.
- Work alongside NAC colleagues to implement and promote company-wide practices.
- Ensure a physically, emotionally, and culturally safe environment for all individuals involved, including visiting artists.

- Exceptional project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and conflicting schedules.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience working with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit storytelling and artistic expressions that honor culturally specific knowledge and experiences.
- Ability to share Indigenous knowledge and respect cultural protocols is essential.
- Proficiency in both official languages is advantageous.
- Knowledge of an Indigenous language is a plus.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms is beneficial.
