Job Title: Associate Producer - Reconciliation Initiative

At the National Arts Centre, we are seeking an experienced Associate Producer to join our Indigenous Theatre team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of our Reconciliation Initiative, a four-year project aimed at promoting Indigenous storytelling and cultural expression.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, Producer, and Production department to plan, schedule, and execute the Reconciliation Initiative, including outreach, artist negotiations, contract management, and budget oversight.
  • Work closely with Facebook (Meta) to coordinate artist training and equipment transfer for the project.
  • Implement and promote company-wide practices to ensure a healthy and welcoming environment for all staff and visiting artists.
Requirements:
  • Strong administrative and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing theatre, film, dance, or television productions.
  • Proficiency in budget preparation and management, scheduling, and contracting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital processes and communication.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or in First Nations, Métis, and Inuit storytelling, performance, dance, theatre, music, and other forms of artistic expression that honour culturally specific knowledge, languages, territories, and experiences.
  • Ability and willingness to share Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing with Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and organizations to effect change, and understanding and respecting cultural protocols in undertaking this work is essential to this role.
  • Facility in both official languages is an asset.
  • Facility in an Indigenous language is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of social media is an asset.
