Job Summary

As a Home Care Attendant with Southern Health-Santé Sud, you will play a vital role in providing personal care and home support services to individuals or groups of home care clients. Under the direction of the Home Care Resource Coordinator, you will work as a member of the Home Care team to assist clients in remaining in their own homes as safely possible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide paraprofessional services to assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist clients with meal preparation and safe food handling.
  • Support clients with mobility and transfer needs.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is essential.
  • Grade 12 education is required.
  • Home Care Attendant Certificate or Health Care Aide Certificate with community component from a recognized post-secondary institute is required.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly or disabled in a community setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
Physical Requirements
  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
