Business Development Manager, Toronto

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing strategic coverage of on and off premise outlets within your sales team territory. Your goal will be to drive volume and grow net sales value to meet or exceed annual targets and outperform the competition. You will lead, coach, and develop direct reports to deliver maximum impact in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train, coach, lead, and motivate direct reports to achieve maximum results
- Clearly communicate roles, responsibilities, expectations, and deliverables to direct reports
- Manage Territory Coverage Plan to ensure excellent execution around time management and resource utilization
- Provide ongoing training and development of Territory Managers and Territory Associates through regular in-field accompaniment, market surveys, and sales team meetings
- Evaluate tools necessary to support attainment of goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers
- Assess ongoing performance by channel, key account, and individual customer
- Ensure distribution of brands in key purchasing areas within accounts
- Grow distribution of brands into existing accounts, including new products and product sizes
- Qualify new accounts to determine potential fit with brand portfolio
- Assign goals and assess progress by territory/account for distribution, volume, profit, and sell-through execution
- Obtain and communicate updated market competitive information
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 4-5 years' experience in a similar role
- Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Certification
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong sales background with solid understanding of company selling procedures
- Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership capabilities with strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking capabilities
- Proficient in MS Office
- Track record in coaching, people management, and team development
- Capable of seeking out new ideas and exhibiting initiative
- Managing complex customer relationships
- Knowledge of Liquor Board Regulations, market trends, and competition
- Relevant cross-functional experience
Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
