Healthcare Leader for Maternal and Newborn Services in Nunavut

As a Regional Manager for Maternal Newborn Health Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring that pregnant women and newborns receive exceptional care in Rankin Inlet and other communities across the region.
About the RoleThis position reports directly to the Director Health Programs and is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Maternal/Newborn Health Services in the Region. Your primary focus will be on maintaining high standards of care through ongoing appraisal of guidelines and adherence to best practices.
As a successful candidate, you will be expected to provide effective leadership in the delivery of these services, supervise midwives and other members of the team, and educate and support healthcare professionals providing pre- and postnatal care to women in the assigned Region.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes;
- Supervise and mentor midwives and other healthcare professionals to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care;
- Collaborate with community health nurses, maternity care workers, and other stakeholders to promote prenatal and postnatal care;
- Maintain accurate records and reports to track service delivery and patient outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in midwifery, ideally with experience working in remote areas and cross-cultural settings. You should also possess excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
A minimum of five years of full-time practice as a registered midwife, along with two years of supervisory experience, is required for this position. You must also be eligible to register with the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANTNU).
Benefits and IncentivesThe Government of Nunavut offers a competitive salary package, including a monthly retention bonus of $375 and additional premiums for recruitment bonuses. Fluency in multiple official languages of Nunavut, including Inuktut, English, and French, would be considered an asset.
