Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Midwife to join our team at the Government of Nunavut. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive midwifery care to childbearing women, babies, and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary health care services to women, babies, and families in accordance with the Health/Midwifery Act and midwifery-led maternity care program.
  • Conduct routine check-ups, prenatal care, and postnatal care to ensure healthy pregnancies and safe births.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support to patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and guidelines in midwifery care.
Requirements
  • Midwifery Diploma from Nunavut Arctic College or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Nunavut Midwifery Registration Committee or a recognized midwifery body.
  • Minimum of two years post-registration experience in midwifery care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • S.T.A.B.L.E or ACoRN course completion.
  • Experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and language.
