About the RoleThis is a highly sensitive position that requires a skilled and compassionate midwife to provide comprehensive care to our clients. As a Registered Midwife, you will be responsible for providing prenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care to women and their families, as well as conducting routine check-ups and providing education on healthy pregnancy and childbirth practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive midwifery care to childbearing women, babies, and families in the community and the Region.
- Practice in compliance with the currently accepted Health/Midwifery Act and functions in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the midwifery-led maternity care program.
- Contribute to healthy pregnancies, safe births, and healthy beginnings for mothers and babies in the region.
- Use an evidence-based approach to provide health services within the profession's scope of practice.
- Be a credentialed practitioner and a member of the professional staff, fully integrated into the accountability structures based on legislation, regulations, accreditation guidelines, and policies/procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Midwifery Diploma from Nunavut Arctic College or registration with the Nunavut Midwifery Registration Committee or Registration with a Canadian College of Midwives or recognized midwifery body.
- A minimum of two (2) years post-registration experience, or one year post-registration experience with supervision for one year as per Nunavut Registration Requirements.
- Equivalencies will be considered for NAC midwifery graduates.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
