Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Indigenous Community Engagement Specialist to join our team in the Government of Alberta. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about fostering relationships and engaging Indigenous communities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead or co-lead Crown-led projects and initiatives focused on Indigenous engagement, facilitating active Indigenous involvement in land use plans, policies, and resource development. They will establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and government staff, providing guidance on engagement protocols for First Nations and Métis communities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Leading or co-leading Crown-led projects and initiatives focused on Indigenous engagement.
  • Facilitating active Indigenous involvement in land use plans, policies, and resource development.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and government staff.
  • Providing guidance on engagement protocols for First Nations and Métis communities.
  • Utilizing strong evaluative and critical thinking skills to develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Communicating complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of land management, resource development, and Indigenous consultation policies. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A degree in a relevant field, such as Indigenous studies, business, or environmental science, is preferred.

Benefits and Compensation

This is a permanent full-time position with a salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, pension plan, and paid vacation time.
