We are seeking a dedicated and experienced nursing professional to join our team as an Instructor in the Health Care Aide program at Nor Quest College. As an Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of health care providers.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out instructional duties in class, lab, and clinical settings. You will teach curriculum content from the Government of Alberta Health Care Aide curriculum, plan for and develop materials for instruction, and demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes.
You will also provide formative and summative feedback to learners, supervise lab skill practice, and assess clinical skills for competency. Additionally, you will proctor final examinations, grade assignments, and input final grades. The successful candidate must adhere to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures.
In the clinical setting, you will provide clinical oversight in SL and LTC settings, make initial contact with facilities, arrange student orientation, assign clients to students, and maintain student progress notes throughout clinical. You will also assess students based on the GLOs, SLOs, and Student Program Manual for clinical practicum.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, you must currently be a regulated nursing professional (RN, RPN, NP or LPN) with a current Alberta nursing license and a good standing membership in CLPNA/CRNA. A Bachelor Degree is preferred, and if your education was received internationally, we recommend obtaining an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations.
You must have at least one year (1500 hours) of full-time clinical nursing or nursing education experience within the last three years, with clinical experience in a rural setting being an asset. You must also be able to travel to multiple locations, including regional and rural sites, and have current CPR certification.
A Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sectors Check within the last ninety days are required, along with valid nursing licensure with no conditions and up-to-date immunization records. Having access to a working vehicle and being able to travel long distances when required is also necessary.
