Kanata Legal Services is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Case Processing Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our immigration law team, you will be responsible for managing and processing immigration cases from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:- Determine eligibility of individuals applying for benefits
- Examine documents and conduct interviews to determine admissibility of individuals seeking entry into Canada
- Ascertain facts on issues such as reason for loss of employment and availability for work
- Monitor payments of benefits throughout duration of claim
- Prepare briefs and research records, court files, and other legal documents
- Prepare reports or case histories and manage contracts
- Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, to assess their situation and problems to determine the types of services required
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and conduct interviews and research
- Collect information through interview, investigation, and observation and draft legal correspondence
- Prepare and key in correspondence and legal documents and interview clients, prepare case histories, and assess problems
- Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry, and skill requirements and other occupational information
- Identify and investigate compliance issues and compile data to prepare documents
- Approach the interview process with genuine curiosity about the interviewee's life and experiences and advise clients on legal proceedings
- College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
- Legal studies, general, legal administrative assistant/secretary, legal assistant/paralegal, political science and government, or equivalent experience
- Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC) Membership
- Database software, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Windows, and Adobe Acrobat Reader skills
- File preparation, administrative law court, law, immigration, and fast-paced environment experience
- Accurate, client-focused, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, judgement, and organized
