About the Role

The Human Resources Business Partner at Mount Royal University plays a critical role in providing strategic HR support to the university's diverse faculties and units. Reporting to the Director, HR, Employee and Labour Relations, this position oversees the end-to-end delivery of all HR programs, policies, systems, and services for all employee groups. The HR Business Partner provides generalist support in all functional areas of HR, including Employee and Labour Relations, Talent Management, Compensation, and Recruitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic HR goals and plans to support the university's business strategies and operational goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to senior leaders and managers on HR-related matters.
  • Lead efforts to resolve complex employee and labour relations issues.
  • Provide guidance on provincial and federal legislation, as well as collective agreement interpretation.
  • Act as lead investigator and/or provide support to leadership in investigating workplace complaints.
  • Provide leadership support in grievance hearings and assist in negotiating settlements.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify trends and opportunities to optimize the people component in their area.
  • Lead special projects on behalf of Human Resources or clients.
  • Promote employee engagement initiatives across the university and at the client department level.

Requirements

  • University degree in a related field plus a minimum of 5 years related experience in a complex human resources generalist capacity.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Strong HR Generalist background required with extensive experience in Employee and Labour Relations, Talent Management.
  • Knowledge of all applicable Human Resource legislation, policies, and practices.
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of best practice in HR areas such as Employee and Labour Relations, Talent Management, and Organizational Development.

Salary Range

$96,850-122,474
