About the Role

The YMCA of Greater Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HF Programs Specialist Aquatics to join our team. As a key member of our Aquatics department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating processes and systems that impact the experience of members in aquatics programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement new programs and services to enhance the member experience in aquatics.
  • Provide support to supervisors in the development and modification of aquatics programs and events, ensuring alignment with the YMCA's strategic plan.
  • Deliver programs that meet the YMCA's Mission, Vision, values, goals, and practices, including Priority SAM Standards.
  • Lead the YMCA Aquatics Quality process, including audits, to ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Act as the Pool Operator, ensuring compliance with Ontario Health Regulations 565.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, property, and staff by following established Workplace Health & Safety practices and procedures.
  • Support supervisors in maintaining relationships with external organizations, such as the Life Saving Society.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a team of volunteers, staff, and participants for aquatic leadership courses.
  • Build relationships with members and promote the YMCA's mission and values.
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics of aquatic leadership courses and events.
  • Provide leadership and support as a member of the Centres' senior staff team.
  • Participate in task groups, special assignments, and opportunities that further the Association's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Recreation Leadership, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience delivering aquatics programs.
  • Certifications in National Lifeguarding Service Award, Life Saving Society FA Instructor, Life Saving Society Lifesaving Instructor, YMCA Swim Instructors certification, YMCA Trainer, and Life Saving Society IT.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Current WHMIS certification.
  • Previous experience in development and implementation of new programs an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills developed through progressively responsible experience.
  • Proficiency with computer software, including Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.

  • Flexibility regarding assigned hours of work, including days, evenings, and weekends.
