Position Overview: The Aquatics Team Lead is a pivotal role reporting to the Director of Athletics, responsible for overseeing all aquatic programming at Branksome Hall. This includes lifeguarding, student instruction, scheduling aquatic activities, ensuring compliance with pool standards and regulations, and supervising co-curricular aquatic programs. Additionally, this position contributes to the development and coordination of weekend swim programs and summer camp activities.

Schedule: The Aquatics Team Lead's work schedule aligns with the academic calendar during the school year and transitions to support summer camps. Hours may vary to accommodate early morning practices and after-school programs, typically working Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday, depending on program needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the aquatics team to manage co-curricular pool hours, weekend swim programs, and swim times for students, staff, and alumni.
  • Assist in delivering swim-specific camps and oversee recreational swim sessions for all camps in accordance with the Summer Camp Director's requirements.
  • Work closely with the Health and Physical Education teams across Junior, Middle, and Senior Schools to implement the curricular swim program for students from JK to Grade 10.
  • Facilitate the Junior School Grassroots groups, including swim clubs and the Branksome Hall Lifesaving Club.
  • Support registration for auxiliary swim programs, including weekend lessons and lifesaving leadership courses.
  • Maintain accurate pool records and ensure the upkeep of the pool, equipment, materials, and changing facilities.
  • Manage swim registration documentation, including payments and medical forms.
  • Assist with communication to program participants.
  • Facilitate first aid certifications for staff and students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant post-secondary education or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Current certifications required: National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid (AED & CPR-C), AED Responder, Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving, and Lifesaving Society Examiner. Additional advanced leadership certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience in developing and coordinating aquatic programs.
  • Familiarity with registration software (e.g., CampBrain, Pike13, iClassPro).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strong team player.
