The Role:

The Aquatics Program Supervisor is accountable to the Director of Athletics and plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aquatic-related initiatives at CIS Ontario. This encompasses lifeguarding duties, instructing participants, managing the aquatic program schedule, ensuring compliance with pool standards and regulations, and supervising aquatic extracurricular activities. This position also contributes to the ongoing enhancement and organization of weekend swim initiatives and summer camp programs.

The Aquatics Program Supervisor's schedule aligns with the academic calendar during the school year and shifts to accommodate summer camps from June to August. Working hours may vary to support early morning practices and after-school activities. This role typically follows a Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday schedule, subject to change based on program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the aquatics team to manage co-curricular weekday pool hours, weekend swim programs, and swim times for students, staff, and alumni; Assist in the execution of swim-specific camps and oversee recreational swim sessions for all camps, based on the needs outlined by the Summer Camp Director; Work in partnership with the Health and Physical Education teams across Junior, Middle, and Senior Schools to implement the swim curriculum for JK – Grade 10; Facilitate the Junior School Grassroots groups, including swim clubs and the Lifesaving Club; Manage registrations for auxiliary swim programs such as weekend lessons, lane/leisure swims, and lifesaving leadership courses (including waiting lists and make-up sessions). Ensure that pool records are current, and maintain the upkeep of the pool, equipment, materials, and changing facilities. Oversee swim registration documentation (including payments and medical forms). Assist with communication to program participants. Facilitate first aid certification courses for employees and students.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Relevant post-secondary education or a minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience, including supervisory experience; Current certifications required: National Lifeguard certificate, Standard First Aid (AED & CPR-C), AED Responder, Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving certificate, Lifesaving Society Examiner. Additional advanced leadership certifications from the Lifesaving Society are advantageous; Experience working with children and adolescents; Proven ability to establish rapport with children, parents, and adults; Background in program development and coordination within an aquatics context; Familiarity with registration software (e.g., CampBrain, Pike13, iClassPro); strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders; Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
