Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning and Policy Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our policy and planning department, you will be responsible for leading the research and development of policy and legislative initiatives to address the priorities and strategic direction of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policy and legislative initiatives to align with the government mandate and ensure internal and external consultation occurs with stakeholders throughout the development and implementation process.
  • Prepare departmental responses, recommendations, and briefing notes to support senior managers, assistant deputy ministers, the deputy minister, and minister's office.
  • Develop key documents such as cabinet submissions, reports, directives, legislative proposals, and discussion papers.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support secretariat services to the director, deputy minister, and minister for federal-provincial-territorial files.
  • Work independently and in a team environment to support, coordinate, and manage the policy and legislation review/development/implementation process within the department.

Requirements

  • A recognized undergraduate degree in political science, social science, law, public administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years' experience in legislation and policy research, development, and analysis.
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, and French) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Language of Work

The official languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut.
