Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legislative and Policy Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our policy and planning department, you will be responsible for leading the research and development of policy and legislative initiatives to address the priorities and strategic direction of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy and legislative initiatives to align with the government mandate
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions
  • Prepare departmental responses, recommendations, and briefing notes for senior managers and stakeholders
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective consultation and collaboration
  • Support secretariat services to the Director, Deputy Minister, and Minister for federal-provincial-territorial files
Requirements
  • Recognized undergraduate degree in political science, social science, law, public administration, or a related field
  • Three (3) years' experience in legislation and policy research, development, and analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Assets
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French)
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
