Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wind Turbine Installation and Maintenance Lead to join our team at Nordex Group in Canada. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of wind turbines and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and/or provide training and support to service technicians to ensure they understand how to perform component assembly, commissioning, testing, repair, and maintenance on wind turbine generators and related equipment.
  • Train and support service technicians in preventative maintenance processes, including infrared fault detection surveys, corona surveys, and ultrasonic surveys.
  • Lead and support service technicians in troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and retrofitting of low to medium voltage electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
  • Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards in wind turbines, switch rooms, and O&M buildings.
  • Train personnel in the proper use of safety gear, protective equipment, and control of energy sources to ensure work is performed safely.
  • Act with proficiency at root cause analyses to accurately determine equipment failure and the reason for failures when they occur.
  • Monitor tool inventory at the wind farm, maintain consumables, and spares parts inventory.
  • Provide leadership to service technicians.
  • Train and assist service technicians on proper methods for performing preventative maintenance tasks on all wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • Complete and maintain required and accurate documentation and records associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • Ensure that safety, health requirements, and cleanliness of facility and equipment are met.
  • Schedule and track the progress of wind turbine preventative maintenances to meet established guidelines.
  • Maintain required training certifications and qualifications.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of directly related work experience in wind energy.
  • Associate degree or technical school certificate preferred.
  • Maintain required training certifications to perform assigned job assignments.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to be certified and work with both medium and high-voltage equipment.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard software applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and rotating shifts as required.
  • Able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders, work at heights of 100 meters, and move and manipulate up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in adverse and extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely travel to the wind farm within 45 minutes in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintain a valid Canadian driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to meet specific Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) weight limit standards of 265lbs or less.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical administered by a medical examiner to ensure the ability to safely perform job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Experience with SAP/J.D. Edwards and Maximo systems a plus.
  • Ability to work in Canada with no company sponsorship and obtain a passport to travel internationally.
