About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Adult Protective Services Worker to join our team at Family and Children's Services Niagara. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Adult Protective Services clients to enhance their ability to live successfully and independently in the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized life skills coaching to Adult Protective Services clients, focusing on skills such as household management, cleaning, shopping, nutrition, and personal hygiene.
  • Act as a bridge between clients and developmental disabilities services providers, introducing them to community resources and support services.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to negotiate the acquisition of needed services and ensure a community approach to assisting Adult Protective Services clients.
  • Follow prescribed individual or group activities and ensure the safety and well-being of clients in care, adhering to centre and agency policies and procedures.
  • Complete required administrative and recording requirements within specified timeframes and maintain accurate and secure files.
Team Building and Collaboration
  • Participate actively in supervision, team meetings, service training sessions, and other meetings as required, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Support the team and work with colleagues to ensure department and agency caseload needs are met, including coverage when required.
Other Related Activities
  • Assume primary responsibility for coordinating client special events and activities.
  • Demonstrate solid crisis intervention and de-escalation skills when required, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients and staff.
  • Identify, promote, and support the use of community resources to assist clients, enhancing their quality of life and independence.
  • Adhere to all applicable FCC and FACS policies, procedures, and relevant administrative practices, ensuring compliance and quality service delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Developmental Services Worker Diploma or related degree/diploma preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years working with clients with developmental disabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of developmentally disabled adults and their associated support community.
  • Solid knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards governing adult protective services.
  • Excellent crisis intervention skills and valid G Driver's License with access to a reliable motor vehicle and liability insurance.
