Unit Clerk, Radiation Oncology Specialist

As a Unit Clerk, Radiation Oncology Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing exceptional care and support throughout their cancer journey. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless coordination of patient care, from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and communicating with patients and healthcare teams.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, preparing documents for clinical teams and patients.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to patient inquiries and concerns in a timely and compassionate manner.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and compassion in all interactions.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm, with accuracy and speed.
- Ability to organize work, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including computers and medical devices.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities, with familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports.
