Unit Clerk, Oncology Chemo: A Key Role in Cancer Care

As a Unit Clerk in our Oncology Chemo department, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality cancer care to our patients. Your keen observation skills, compassionate communication style, and exceptional organizational abilities will make you a valuable asset to our team.

About the Role

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for:

  • Transcribing and processing clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
  • Coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, preparing and communicating related instructions to patients and clinical teams.
  • Gathering patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, requesting and receiving patient information for clinical teams.
  • Providing receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, supporting wayfinding, and responding to inquiries.
  • Participating in the onboarding and orientation of staff, supporting student clinical practicums as required.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a highly organized and compassionate individual with excellent communication skills. You will have:

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism.
