Unit Clerk, Oncology Clinic Specialist
At PHSA, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Oncology Clinic team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions and scheduling of tests and services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating interrelated appointments and communicating related instructions to patients.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments, facilitating efficient patient flow and preparing documents for clinical teams.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone inquiries, and responding to triage requests.
- Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff, adhering to safety policies and standards.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
