Unit Clerk - Radiation Oncology Specialist

At PHSA, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Oncology team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requisitions for tests or services.
  • Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating interrelated appointments and communicating related instructions to patients.
  • Gather patient information for medical appointments, facilitating efficient patient flow and preparing documents for clinical teams.
  • Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone inquiries, and responding to triage requests.
  • Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively, demonstrating empathy and kindness.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm and operate related equipment.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
