At EQ Bank | Equitable Bank, we are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Governance Manager to join our Commercial Banking team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of governance policies, credit processes, analytics, and training for our Commercial department.

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned professional with a strong background in commercial lending and risk management. As a Strategic Governance Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing and updating our Commercial department's policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and enterprise policy. You will also work closely with other departments within Equitable Bank to drive collaboration and implement strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy governance policies, credit processes, analytics, and training for the Commercial department;
  • Review and analyze applicable regulatory frameworks and enterprise policy to ensure adequate controls and procedures are in place;
  • Collaborate with other departments within Equitable Bank to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives;
  • Provide guidance and support to Senior Management within the Commercial department on policy updates and procedural changes;
  • Oversee credit initiatives to support the growth and optimization of the Commercial portfolio while maintaining compliance with Equitable Bank's policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and communicate new procedures and requirements;
  • Drive collaboration within Senior Management to identify needs and develop scalable solutions to increase efficiencies and limit operational risks.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in commercial real estate or a related field;
  • A strong understanding of banking regulations (CAR, PIPEDA, Bank Act, AML, etc.);
  • Experience with drafting policy, procedures, standards, and other related documents;
  • Ability to translate legislative/regulatory requirements into policy/procedure;
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiation skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, based on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. We also offer a generous RRSP match program, employee share purchase plan, and annual professional development allowance.
