We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Risk Manager for Market Governance to join our team at The Toronto-Dominion Bank (Canada).

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, managing and supervising a team to oversee Operational Governance and Metrics activities. You will be responsible for ensuring that all analysis is complete and accurate, with thorough commentary, while escalating issues in a timely manner.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Effectively challenging, proposing, and championing projects to improve efficiencies and provide more effective business support;
  • SUPPORTING Market Risk in remediating internal audit findings;
  • Ensuring effective internal controls exist and are continuously updated for all processes underlying the Operational Governance scope;
  • SUPPORTING in identifying innovative opportunities and helping drive these initiatives;
  • Evolving analytical and attribution capabilities and business knowledge, and developing skills required for today and future, while understanding, identifying, and responding proactively to current and emerging risks;
  • Managing relationships with business partners, including sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities to leverage complementary skills;
  • Owning and understanding models/non-models and methodologies applicable to your business, ensuring transparency through established business controls and governance;
  • Providing leadership, direction, advice, and empowering your team to consistently maintain high levels of integrity, motivation, and morale;
  • Establishing an environment that promotes respect, inclusion, and diversity for individual employees; and
  • Carrying out regular and proactive resource planning to ensure the team is positioned to deliver against its future mandate.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant industry, compliance, audit, or risk management experience and/or accreditation;
  • A proven track record of making an impact, developing and executing on strategies, and delivering superior results in both the short and long term;
  • Strong people management skills, including developing through coaching and mentoring;
  • The ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, seeing the "big picture" in a complex environment through excellent judgement;
  • Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills to facilitate working with colleagues at all levels of the organization;
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities;
  • Strong conceptual skills and attention to detail; and
  • A good understanding of risk management, governance, compliance, and controls practices.
