About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Access Support Specialist to join our team in Kingston, ON. As an Access Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide access support services to individuals who are deafblind, facilitating communication and daily living activities.
- Assist individuals in navigating their home and community environments, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Use effective communication techniques to convey information, empowering individuals to participate fully in daily life.
- Support individuals in developing and achieving personal goals, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support and services.
Qualifications and Skills
- A college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related field.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
