Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Legislative Assistant to join our General Litigation, Risk Management & Municipal Group. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal and administrative support under the guidance of our supervising solicitor and Deputy City Solicitor.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison between external legal counsel and departmental staff, compiling and sharing evidence, communicating instructions, and updating confidential reports.
  • Assist lawyers and senior law clerks in general and insurance litigation matters, preparing pleadings, exhibits, notices, and other documents for submission to Tribunals or Courts.
  • Provide confidential administrative support within the assigned practice group area and back up when required.
  • Conduct research on various matters required by lawyers, maintaining accurate and complete claims files and ClearRisk information to generate statistics related to general litigation matters.
  • Research and prepare routine by-laws, policies, contracts, and other documents for review by lawyers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a community college law clerk diploma and/or a two-year college certificate or university degree in a related field. Additionally, you should have two or more years of experience in a legal office or municipal law department.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $67,749 - $84,687 (Grade F). We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working hours, mobile and hybrid working arrangements, a great pension plan, and programs to foster innovation and leadership.
