Human Resources Generalist

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operation and support of our team members, management, and the firm. Your responsibilities will include talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and general HR function support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist HR leadership in creating/enhancing, launching and maintaining HR initiatives and projects.
- Manage the recruitment process including, sourcing, screening, selecting and hiring.
- Leverage HR expertise and act as a trusted advisor by supporting management in routine employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, in accordance with legislation, firm policies and best practices.
- Responsible for staying abreast relevant legislative changes to ensure compliance of policies and procedures, with support from HR leadership.
- Responsible for clearly and accurately communicating HR updates or changes to all levels of the firm.
- Support with the maintenance of our HRIS and stay apprised of system updates.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of job and position related documents.
- Contribute to fostering a positive workplace by supporting the development and implementation of initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Assist with and provide support for performance management processes including, annual reviews, formal feedback, annual goal setting and progressive discipline.
- Act as a backup health and safety support to the JHSC, as needed.
- Assist with administrative HR tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and firm information.
- Other ad-hoc projects and duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field required.
- 3-5 years of generalist HR experience.
- Strong understanding of relevant employment legislation (Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Saety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).
- Proficient in MS Office computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as HRIS database systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain professional relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with fine attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in an environment requiring discretion and confidentiality.
- Experience working with staff and clients in a professional and confidential manner.
- Strong team player and ability to work collaboratively towards common goals.
- Ability to use professional judgement in decision making.
- Joint Health & Safety Member certification, preferred.
