Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Representative to join our team at Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. As a GIS Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for executing service work at customer sites, ensuring compliance with Hitachi Energy and legislative Health and Safety requirements, while maintaining project schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building customer relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Making decisions on complex and technical issues.
  • Providing expertise with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
  • Making recommendations to customers regarding system and equipment performance.
  • Working in collaboration with other departments (sales, marketing, engineering) and bringing Field Service expertise.
  • Handling post-commissioning warranty activities.
  • Performing field assignments to solve customers' operational problems, optimize equipment performance, and commission new equipment.
  • Working with customers on field-related problems.
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and commenting on technical specifications, strategy, and resolution of technical problems.
  • Performing field activities, including testing, inspections, and site visits.
  • Following scheduling and administrative procedures.
  • Participating in technical training and technical presentations.
  • Preparing technical reports following site work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technologist certification.
  • Years of service experience in power generation, protection, transmission, and distribution.
  • Hitachi Energy GIS installation certification, commissioning, and maintenance is a requirement.
  • Problem-solving skills through research, peer networking, and Centre of Excellence networking.
  • Experience in field services, particularly with regards to HV breakers, GIS commissioning, and repair.
  • Ability to formulate solutions to technical problems, prepare technical quotations, and reports.
  • Able and willing to be called for customer emergency situations and scheduled service calls requiring unsupervised work at customer sites.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers are extremely important.
  • Safety-minded and proven safe work record.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously (as required).
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customers and co-workers are critical.
