Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Instructor, Natural Resources to join our team at North Island College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing micro-credentials in natural resource management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver instructional materials for natural resource courses
  • Use a variety of teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and develop course outlines
  • Provide a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Communicate clearly with students and colleagues
  • Design and conduct evaluations of student progress
  • Submit grades and maintain student records
Professional Duties
  • Stay up-to-date with College educational policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the development of the College's education and strategic plans
  • Advise the Department Chair on course materials and enrollment management
  • Participate in department meetings and College-wide activities
  • Undertake other related responsibilities as assigned by the College
Requirements
  • Forest professional or related discipline with a minimum of three years industry experience
  • Master's degree in math, education, forestry, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Curriculum development experience
  • One year teaching experience in a post-secondary setting
  • BC Instructors Diploma or BC Teaching Certificate preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with course instruction, including facilitation of theoretical and applied learning
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with instructional aids, computer applications, and learning technologies
  • Demonstrated pedagogical approaches to stimulate and empower learners
  • Experience with blended learning and online instruction
