**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Investment Associate to join our Investment Origination team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in venture debt, venture capital, commercial banking, corporate finance, or private investments. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with prospective borrowers to discuss investment opportunities
  • Reviewing business plans and pitch decks to assess investment potential
  • Gathering industry information to identify potential competitors and target companies
  • Reviewing financial materials and preparing follow-up questions for further meetings
  • Assisting with the preparation of internal investment memorandums
  • Structuring and negotiating term sheets with prospective borrowers
  • Maintaining and supporting internal databases and tools
  • Evaluating new tools and software systems to improve team efficiency
  • Building a network of prospective deal flow sources, including venture capital firms, investment bankers, debt advisors, and lawyers
  • Attending conferences and networking events
  • Contributing to the development of our marketing strategy

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4-8 years of relevant experience in venture debt, venture capital, commercial banking, corporate finance, private investments, or equity research
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing a high volume of transactions as an investor or advisor
  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting, and outstanding academic achievement
  • Solid understanding of corporate finance and accounting principles, including proficiency with financial modeling and valuation techniques
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Proactive, highly motivated, and able to work independently
  • Passionate about uncovering compelling investment opportunities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
  • Experience in the technology sector or dealing with revenue-stage, small and medium-sized, high-growth companies is an asset
  • Completion of the CFA or CPA programs is an asset
  • Prior sales or origination experience is an asset
  • A wide network within the venture ecosystem in North America and the UK is an asset
