Substitute Bus Monitor

Job Summary:
The Substitute Bus Monitor is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation to students with special needs while on school buses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with special needs by accurately operating and manipulating special equipment used on the bus.
- Lift and place students comfortably as needed.
- Seat students in their assigned location.
- Monitor students' behavior and intervene when necessary.
- Report problems and concerns to the designated authority.
- Learn and remember the bus route.
- Observe and enforce all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Assist in keeping the assigned bus clean.
- Check-in and check-out as directed.
- Ensure students board and exit only at authorized stops.
- Complete required reports accurately and on time.
- Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on buses.
- Participate in training and meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Education and/or experience that demonstrates the qualifications to perform the job satisfactorily.
- Wheelchair training for handicapped buses.
- Reports to the Director of Transportation.
