Job Summary:
The Substitute Bus Monitor is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation to students with special needs by monitoring their behavior and attending to their needs while on school buses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with special needs by operating and manipulating special equipment on the bus.
- Lift and place students comfortably as needed.
- Seat students in their assigned location.
- Monitor students' behavior and intervene in conflicts.
- Maintain confidentiality and report concerns to designated authorities.
- Learn and remember bus routes and observe safety regulations.
- Assist in keeping the bus clean and check-in/check-out as directed.
- Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on buses.
- Participate in training and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Education and/or experience demonstrating qualifications to perform the job satisfactorily.
- Wheelchair training for handicapped buses.
- Reports to the Director of Transportation.
