Job Summary:
The Bus Monitor - Student Safety Specialist will provide safe and efficient transportation for students with exceptional needs by monitoring student behavior and attending to their special requirements while on school buses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with exceptional needs by accurately operating and manipulating special equipment on the bus.
- Lift and place students comfortably as needed.
- Seat students in their assigned location.
- Monitor students' behavior and intervene in conflicts.
- Maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical behavior.
- Report problems and concerns to designated authorities.
- Learn and remember bus routes.
- Ensure adherence to mandatory safety regulations.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized bus environment.
- Check-in and check-out as directed.
- Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on buses.
- Participate in training and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Education and/or experience demonstrating qualifications to perform the job satisfactorily.
- Wheelchair training for handicapped buses.
- Reports to the Director of Transportation.
