Job Title: YMAP Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a YMAP Coordinator. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality programs and services to newcomer youth in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver after-school sessions in-person and online to high school and post-secondary students
  • Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August
  • Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs
  • Deliver topics including self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness
  • Work within a team of YMAP Coordinators
  • Help organize special events for youth
  • Recruit participants through in-school presentations and one-on-one interviews
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories
  • Support program evaluation
  • Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations
  • Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities
  • Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth
  • Experience in leading and running groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills
  • Initiative and a strong work ethic
  • Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed)
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three professional references
