Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a YMAP Coordinator.

About the Role

This part-time, year-round position will involve working with high school students in a dynamic program, providing support and positive experiences. The successful candidate will have the ability to adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans, deliver topics such as self-esteem, healthy relationships, and cultural awareness, and work within a team of six YMAP Coordinators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver after-school sessions four days a week from October to June for youth with varying English levels
  • Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories
  • Support program evaluation and provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations
  • Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or Humanities
  • Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth
  • Experience in leading and running groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy, and job-searching skills
  • Initiative and a strong work ethic
  • Strong team-work skills and ability to work independently with low supervision
  • Critical-thinking skills
  • Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed)
  • Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months)
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
