Housing Support Specialist

The Housing Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This position requires a strong understanding of youth development and the issues surrounding homelessness. The ideal candidate will have experience working with at-risk youth and a passion for creating effective housing plans that address the unique needs of each individual.
Key Responsibilities:- Work collaboratively with youth, staff, and community agencies to create and implement housing plans that promote stability and independence.
- Provide support and advocacy for a caseload of youth, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Liaise with landlords, property managers, and community resources to secure safe and affordable housing options.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to ensure a comprehensive support system for youth.
- Conduct intake, assessment, and referral services to identify and address the needs of youth.
- Provide crisis intervention and eviction prevention services to support youth in maintaining stable housing.
- Participate in community committees and projects to advocate for the needs of homeless youth and promote awareness about homelessness.
- Compile statistics and data to evaluate the effectiveness of housing initiatives and inform program development.
- Bachelor of Social Work or a related undergraduate degree.
- Registration or candidacy for registration with a related professional body (if applicable).
- A minimum of five years of experience working with at-risk and homeless youth, providing case management and advocacy services.
- Non-violent crisis intervention, suicide intervention, standard first aid, and medication dispensing training (or a commitment to secure these requirements within six months of being hired).
- Experience in program development and working with community agencies.
