Job Summary:

The Housing Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. This position requires a strong understanding of youth development and the issues surrounding homelessness. The ideal candidate will have experience working with at-risk youth and a passion for creating effective housing plans that address the unique needs of each individual.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with youth, staff, and community agencies to create effective housing plans that address the issues of homelessness.
  • Provide support for a caseload of approximately 20-25 youth within the housing program, including intake, assessment, and referral services.
  • Liaise with landlords and property managers to secure viable housing options for youth.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to ensure that the needs of at-risk youth are met.
  • Conduct public education presentations about the agency and the issues surrounding homelessness.
  • Compile statistics and data to evaluate the effectiveness of the housing initiative.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Social Work or an undergraduate degree and Human Services diploma or other relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Registration or Candidacy for Registration, certification, or membership of a related professional body (if applicable).
  • A minimum of five years of experience working with at-risk and homeless youth providing case management and advocacy.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention, suicide intervention, standard first aid, and Phoenix medication dispensing training or a commitment to secure those requirements within six months of being hired.
  • Experience in program development and working for a non-profit organization is an asset.
Working Environment:

The Housing Support Worker will work in a team environment and be required to work collaboratively with staff and community agencies. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
