About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our HR function, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall success of our Human Resources activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Business Planning: Participate in the development of strategic business plans and subsequent talent strategies with HR and business line leaders to meet business objectives.
  2. Talent Strategy Delivery: Contribute to the delivery of talent strategies through insights, data and solutions to leaders on priorities and needs. Delivers input and feedback on program/policy design to the Director and CoEs and provide recommendations on program execution.
  3. HR Counsel: Develop relationships with the business to provide value-added HR counsel aligned to business objectives.
  4. Client-Focused Culture: Champion a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and help the business achieve their overall financial and customer objectives.
  5. Cyclical Programs: Collaborate with HR Services and CoEs to deploy cyclical programs such as employee engagement surveys, leadership resource planning, year-end performance management and compensation reviews.
  6. Project Management: Manage programs and projects including planning, implementation, coordination, communication and post mortem.
  7. Communication: Prepare and contribute to written communications to propose recommendations and/or update the business on initiatives as well as decks for business presentations and meetings.
  8. High Performance Environment: Champion a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate with and support all members of the HR community.
  10. HR Data Analysis: Proactively utilize a wide range of HR data to identify themes, trends and correlations to make recommendations and effectively support HR strategies and programs to meet the business needs.
Requirements
  1. HR Designation: CHRP, CHRL or other HR designation, or in progress is an asset.
  2. Communication Skills: Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization. Able to collaborate with HR stakeholders and business partners and coach managers. Actively listens and seeks to understand needs with genuine curiosity.
  3. Writing Skills: Strong writing skills to communicate business cases, decks and recommendations to varying levels of management.
  4. Business Experience: Prior business experience (non-HR) a definite asset.
  5. Influencing Skills: Ability to strategically influence and persuade senior leaders through relationships.
  6. Technical Skills: Intermediate to advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Note skills. Able to run basic reporting and queries.
  7. Problem Solving: Identifies solutions through effective questioning and fact finding.
  8. Project Planning: Excellent project planning and delivery skills to oversee execution of complex communications strategies.
  9. Problem Solving: Strong problem solving, influencing and negotiation skills.
  10. Results Orientation: Results oriented, accountable and able to effectively execute in a fast paced environment.
  11. Strategic Capabilities: Strong strategic capabilities to assess issues and their potential impact on the Business' objectives as well as the Bank's image and reputation.
  12. Cross-Cultural Relationships: Ability to build strong cross-cultural and cross-divisional relationships within HR and the Business.
  13. Experience: 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in an HR Business Partner or generalist capacity.
  14. Education: Undergraduate degree and or graduate degree, with a focus on business/human resources.
