Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Community Dietitian, North to play a key leadership role in primary care and health promotion for the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA). This is an exciting opportunity for a registered dietitian to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and community members to deliver nutrition and nutrition-related programs based on identified needs and priority setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective nutrition programs and services that meet the needs of diverse populations in the North.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams, community organizations, and stakeholders to promote healthy eating habits and prevent chronic diseases.
  • Provide education and counseling to clients of all ages and their families on appropriate diet, nutrition, and self-management methods.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop programs to address nutrition-related issues in the community.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients with complex nutrition needs.
  • Stay up-to-date with current dietetic standards of practice and nutrition research to ensure evidence-based practice.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nutrition or a related field.
  • Registration with a provincially regulated association of Registered Dietitians.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in acute/ambulatory care or community health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
