About the Role

The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Dietitian to join our team in Inuvik. This role plays a vital part in promoting health and well-being within the Sahtu and Beaufort-Delta regions, serving a diverse population of approximately 10,000 residents.

Reporting to the Territorial Specialist, Chronic Disease, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community members to deliver impactful nutrition programs tailored to specific needs. Your expertise will be instrumental in empowering individuals and families to make informed dietary choices that contribute to their overall health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition programs aligned with regional priorities.
  • Provide comprehensive nutritional counseling and education to clients of all ages, encompassing individual consultations, group sessions, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Conduct nutrition assessments, develop individualized meal plans, and monitor client progress.
  • Stay abreast of current dietetic standards and best practices through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program, with one year of recent experience in acute/ambulatory care.
  • Strong understanding of cultural sensitivities and the ability to adapt programs accordingly.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for administrative tasks.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality patient care and promoting community health.
