About the Role:
The University of Toronto is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Financial and Payroll Assistant to support the day-to-day financial and payroll administration for the Faculty of Law. As a key member of the Finance team, you will provide a broad range of financial and payroll services and support, including coordination of payroll processing, posting and monitoring financial transactions, and maintaining payroll and financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Enter timesheet data into applicable databases and ensure accuracy and completeness
- Process payroll and personnel information in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures
- Identify and resolve individual data anomalies and discrepancies, and ensure that all supporting documentation is attached prior to processing
- Liaise with internal and external contacts to resolve payroll and/or HRIS processing issues
- Work closely with the Finance team to provide a high level of service and support to the Faculty
Requirements:
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) in business/accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum three years of recent experience processing, monitoring, and reconciling financial and payroll transactions, preferably in an academic environment
- Experience processing payroll, including salary and/or personnel information in HRIS, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience working with SAP systems, including Financial Information Systems (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing deadlines and priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve discrepancies
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
