About The Subway HR Team
We are looking for a talented professional to join our team as a Franchise Development Director. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving the growth and success of our business in Canada.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will lead all aspects of franchise development, including market planning, franchisee engagement, evaluation and selection, real estate site selection, and restaurant design. You will work closely with our North American design teams to ensure consistency between US and Canada. Your expertise will help us build a strong pipeline for new store openings and drive franchisee profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Attract, retain, and develop highly effective development professionals and support staff. Hold the team accountable for conducting business in a legal and ethical manner while complying with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations related to business and employment.
- Franchising: Lead and liaise with the Director, Franchising to identify, evaluate, and select highly qualified new single and multi-unit franchisees across Canada. Proactively identify top existing multi-unit operators and establish a roadmap for growth for these key partners.
- Construction: Lead and liaise with the Sr Manager, Construction for the timely, accurate, and on-budget construction of all new units across Canada. Work closely with IPC partners to identify cost savings and value engineering opportunities for all new and existing locations across Canada to drive franchisee profitability.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in development.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian real estate market, including leasing, renewals, municipal codes, contractors, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- A proven track record of demonstrated sales success in the franchise sales industry.
- Presentation skills and experience working one-on-one, with small groups, and large groups up to 1,000.
- Ability to use persuasion to gain support and cooperation from audience members to achieve a desired course of action consistent with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.

Salary Estimate
$150,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Location
This is a remote position, but travel to Canada may be required periodically.
