About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Canada Executive Leadership Team as a Head of Development. As a key member of our team, you will lead all aspects of development, helping us grow our brand image and footprint across Canada.

Your scope of responsibilities will cover market planning, franchisee engagement, evaluation, and selection, real estate site selection, collaboration with Subway North America design teams, construction of new units, and delivering remodel targets.

You will be responsible for developing strong processes and leveraging the scale of our North American Business Unit to increase speed to market and transform our Development KPIs in Canada. Having a strong pipeline for new store openings, including sites and franchisees, will be crucial to your success.

This role is integral in providing a national scope and alignment, with one voice towards the optimization of our network and development of new locations in the Canadian marketplace.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership: Attract, retain, and develop highly effective development professionals and support staff.
  2. Hold team accountable for conducting business in a legal and ethical manner while complying with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations related to business and employment.
  3. Oversee people, processes, and programs across the team to ensure that talent is in place for current and future needs by providing operational, functional, and technical leadership.
  4. Lead and liaise with Director, Real Estate & Leasing and Manager, Market Planning to build robust real estate pipeline for new restaurant growth.
  5. Lead and liaise with Director, Real Estate & Leasing and Manager, Market Planning to create proactive plan for restaurant network optimization.
Franchising:
  1. Lead and liaise with Director, Franchising for the identification, evaluation, and selection of highly qualified new single and multi-unit franchisees across Canada.
  2. Lead and liaise with Director, Franchising to proactively identify top existing multi-unit operators and establish a roadmap for growth for these key partners.
Construction:
  1. Lead and liaise with Sr Manager, Construction for the timely, accurate, and on-budget construction of all new units across Canada.

Compensation and Benefits
  • The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000-$150,000, depending on experience.
