About the Unit Clerk Role
This role is part of the BC Cancer team, responsible for providing administrative support to the Cancer Centre.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for patients and families, providing a warm and welcoming experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Transcribing and processing clinician orders, including requisitions for tests or services
- Coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients
- Gathering patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow
- Performing receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients
- Participating in the onboarding and orientation of staff
- Maintaining a safe environment for patients, families, and staff
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Grade 12 with medical terminology and a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program
- Recent experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to organize work and operate related equipment
- Ability to utilize various computer software applications
