Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Youth Support Professional to join our team at Good Shepherd Centres Hamilton.

About the Role:

This part-time opportunity includes rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights), weekends, and statutory holidays. As a Residential Youth Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in supporting young individuals aged 15-18 with complex mental health issues.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans to support or enhance youth integration into the community
  • Provide assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counseling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, and life skills teaching
  • Liaise with other community services to ensure seamless support for clients
  • Participate in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, and protocols to minimize risk to clients, staff, and others

What You'll Bring:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in social work/social services/child and youth services etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working with transitional-aged youth, youth homelessness, and substance use/abuse
  • Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for children under Ministry guidelines is an asset
  • A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively
  • Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, and assessment skills
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and employee responsibility under current legislation
