Support Professional for Student Success

A support professional is required to work in a dynamic educational setting, supporting students and teachers in a variety of activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany students during school and extracurricular activities, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
- Assist in school library or office, providing administrative support as needed.
- Help students individually or in small groups with assignments, reinforcing learning concepts under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
- Perform other duties assigned by the school principal, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Supervise students during school and extracurricular activities, ensuring their well-being and safety.
- Monitor students during recess and lunch hour, promoting responsible behavior.
- Assist students with integration into the classroom and school setting, fostering a sense of belonging.
- Assist with classroom inventory, maintaining a organized and efficient learning environment.
- Monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher, providing valuable insights.
- Assist the teacher in the operation of projectors, tape recorders, and other audio-visual or electronic equipment, ensuring a smooth learning experience.
- Assist students with special needs using techniques such as sign language, braille, and remedial programs, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
Community Engagement:- Participate in government or community programs that support newcomers and refugees.
- Recruit newcomers and refugees who were displaced by conflict or natural disaster, promoting diversity and inclusivity.
- Provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees.
Support for Youth:- Participate in government or community programs that support youth employment.
Support for Veterans:- Participate in government or community programs that support Veterans.
Support for Indigenous People:- Participate in government or community programs that support Indigenous people.
- Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
- Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees, fostering a welcoming work environment.
- Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
Support for Mature Workers:- Participate in government or community programs that support mature workers.
Support for Visible Minorities:- Participate in government or community programs that support members of visible minorities.
- Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities.
- Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
- Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
