Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Behavioral Health Program. As a member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide patient care in accordance with the standards of The College of Nurses of Ontario, nursing standards, and policies/procedures at St. Peter's Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care under the direction of and in collaboration with the RN and/or Case Manager.
  • Participate in a comprehensive onsite orientation program, led by experienced health care professionals and educators.
  • Work with patients with dementia, providing care that is tailored to their individual needs.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure effective and professional care.
  • Set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs.
Requirements
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Gentle Persuasive Approaches (Basics Workshop) preferred.
  • Demonstrated competent nursing skill.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with patients, families, peers, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams in an effective, professional, caring manner.
